The North Everest Base Camp (EBC) – Lhasa Tour is an 8–9 day journey through the heart of Tibet, offering a blend of high-altitude adventure, cultural immersion, and spiritual experiences. Travelers explore the northern side of Mount Everest, including the Rongbuk Monastery and North Everest Base Camp, before continuing to Lhasa, Tibet’s cultural and spiritual capital.
This tour combines scenic drives across the Tibetan Plateau, high passes, glacial valleys, and vast desert landscapes, allowing travelers to witness local Tibetan nomadic life, monasteries, and traditional festivals along the way.

Arrival at Lhasa airport or train station. Transfer to the hotel and rest to acclimatize to high altitude. This first day is light on activity to help your body adjust to 3,650 m (12,000 ft). Overnight stay in Lhasa.
Explore the spiritual and cultural heart of Tibet. Visit the Potala Palace, the historic residence of the Dalai Lamas, followed by Jokhang Temple, Tibet’s holiest shrine. Wander through Barkhor Street, a bustling market and sacred path, observing traditional Tibetan life. This full day helps with further acclimatization while offering rich cultural exposure. Spend the morning at Drepung Monastery, one of Tibet’s largest monasteries, exploring its chapels and courtyards. In the afternoon, visit Sera Monastery, where you can witness the famous monk debating sessions (usually 3–5 pm). The day balances spiritual exploration with careful altitude acclimatization. Overnight in Lhasa.
Drive west across the Tibetan plateau, stopping at Yamdrok Tso Lake, one of Tibet’s largest turquoise lakes, and the Karola Glacier, a stunning Himalayan glacier. Explore Pelkor Chode Monastery and the iconic Gyantse Kumbum before continuing to Shigatse, with an optional visit to Tashi Lhunpo Monastery. Overnight in Shigatse.
Travel across the high-altitude Tibetan plateau, crossing Gawula Pass, which provides panoramic views of the Himalayas. Arrive in Tingri, the gateway town for the Everest region, offering majestic mountain vistas and insight into nomadic Tibetan life. Overnight in Tingri or nearby.
Drive to Rongbuk Monastery, the world’s highest monastery, then take the eco-bus or shuttle to the North Everest Base Camp viewpoint. Explore the base area and witness the breathtaking landscape. If weather permits, enjoy sunset over Mount Everest. Overnight in a tent guesthouse or basic accommodation near EBC/Rongbuk.
Optional sunrise over Mount Everest to capture the peak at dawn. Afterward, return to Shigatse along the plateau, descending from high altitudes while enjoying Tibetan landscapes and villages. Overnight in Shigatse.
Depart Shigatse early in the morning and drive toward Lhasa with a detour to Namtso Lake, one of Tibet’s highest and most sacred lakes. Stop for panoramic views, short walks along the lakeshore, and photography. Optional overnight near Namtso allows viewing the sunrise over the lake. Overnight near Namtso Lake.
Catch an early sunrise at Namtso Lake, a spectacular spiritual and photographic experience. Then drive back to Lhasa (4–5 hours). Afternoon free for shopping, visiting local markets, or exploring Lhasa at leisure. Overnight in Lhasa
