Trip Overview

Upper Mustang, a remote and enigmatic region in northern Nepal, offers a unique and captivating trekking experience. Often called "The Last Forbidden Kingdom," it is renowned for its dramatic landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and historical significance. Nestled between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges, Upper Mustang is known for its stark, high-altitude desert terrain, ancient Tibetan-like culture, and well-preserved historical sites. The trek to Upper Mustang typically begins with a flight from Pokhara to Jomsom, followed by a trek through rugged terrain and traditional villages. Highlights of the trek include exploring Lo Manthang, the ancient walled capital of Mustang, which boasts a rich history and stunning Tibetan architecture. Trekkers will encounter a mix of barren landscapes, deep canyons, and ancient caves while experiencing the region's unique cultural practices, monasteries, and festivals. Due to its status as a restricted area, special permits are required, and the trek offers an extraordinary opportunity to delve into a region that has been relatively untouched by modern development, preserving its historical and cultural essence.
